Get rid of Kelly. I'd much rather have Yunel and Prado up the middle than KJ and Prado. The Padres need a second baseman anyways.

JB, I would be fine with Kelly, but Yunel is the future, At least at second we can go with Prado who is not a bad choice. As for Peavy, this would make a great addition but what is the cost to get such a player and is it worth it in the long run.

I would be very happy to see the Braves acquire Peavy. Though I am a fan of Kelly Johnson and Yunel Escobar, I would much rather see Johnson go as Escobar would be more difficult to replace. The Braves always look so good pre-season, then come the injuries...

You're right Esco is a much better shortstop and maybe the Pads have had enough of Green (especially after his self inflicted injury).

I guess it's a matter of who would you take... a quality starter like Peavy or a somewhat over priced middle infielder in Green. Esco will definitely go if Peavey comes on.

As you know I'm not all that excited about this deal (if it happens). There are pros and cons to every deal of course but I'm just not willing to give up the farm and Escobar to get this deal done.

If the rumor is indeed true, and they Padres make us take on Kahlil Greene (sounds like the whole Beckett deal with Boston when the Marlins said the only way the deal would get done is to take on Lowell and his contract). There would be a serious down grade at the plate and in the field switching Escobar with Greene. I've always thought to make smart moves you need to make the ones that make you better all around.

Taking on Peavy wouldn't be overly bad, TOR pitcher, 4 years of control with a option for a 5th, but taking on Greene would seriously down grade the middle infield at a premium position, where defense is a needed value. If I were Wren (and honestly I hate speculation like this, but just for fun) I'd want Peavy and Chase Headley. He can play 3rd and Left Field. He's a power guy and switch hits, that solves the LF problem, and if all else fails we could start Lillibridge at SS and hope that last season was just a fluke year for him.

Hanson was pretty good with Mississippi last year getting a no hitter. I don't think it would be wise to trade away too many pitching prospects (Neftali Perez is one I'd like back) so it could be one or the other, Morton or Hanson that may get included.

Khalil Green could be getting up to $6.5 for 2009! Yikes! I suppose with a little cash to spend I'd rather spend money than prospects (lesser of two evils). The Teixeira deal is still a little glaring.

Like the Yankees couldn't get a Peavy deal done without the inclusion of Phil Hughes, I don't think the Braves are getting away without offering Tommy Hanson.

What do you think about taking on Khalil Greene's salary if it means giving up fewer prospects?
